Stephania Bell’s injury update

  • It’s the players not listed on the game status injury report that are of interest for the Rams. They will have running back Kyren Williams back this week after he missed four games (five weeks with the bye) with a sprained ankle. Williams was serving as the lead back when he was injured and seeing a high percentage of offensive snaps, something coach Sean McVay has indicated will be more closely monitored after this injury.

  • It’s worth noting that Williams had surgery to repair a high ankle sprain last year and missed extensive time. Given his injuries in back to back seasons, the Rams would be wise to balance Williams’ workload and it appears Royce Freeman will be utilized to do just that. Still, there is no reason to believe he will be physically limited as he heads into Sunday’s game after full practices throughout the week. His teammate, wide receiver Cooper Kupp, got a scare with a low grade right lateral ankle sprain when he was stepped on last week. Although Kupp was held out the remainder of that game, he returned to limited practice Thursday and after a full session Friday, was cleared to play. Puka Nacua (shoulder) is also off the pregame injury status report after upgrading to full practices Thursday and Friday following a limited session Wednesday

  • Keep an eye on Justin Jefferson who is listed as questionable for Monday night. Jefferson has remained limited in practice throughout the week and given his insistence at being full strength prior to returning to action, it would be a bit of a surprise to see him this week. That said, he has indicated the focus of late has been on building endurance and feeling no hamstring soreness post-workouts suggesting he is extremely close to return level of play but may be limited in work volume initially. The Vikings have a bye in Week 13 and the case could be made either way as to whether he would benefit from a low volume return or wait an additional two weeks and return with few or no restrictions. The team does not have to decide his status until 4 p.m. ET on Monday.
