Inter hopeful of long-term Martinez deal

Inter Milan chief Beppe Marotta has provided positive news this week on the future of star striker Lautaro Martinez.

The Argentina international has been linked with a Premier League switch in the past, but now looks set to remain in Italy.

“Of course [we want to keep him]. In fact, we are trying to extend the contract by another five years,” Marotta said, as translated by Football Italia.

“We are negotiating and the good thing is that he has this great sense of belonging, which in modern football is truly not to be underestimated.”

Newcastle learn Soule price

A bid of €20m should be enough for Newcastle to land Matias Soule, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness).

Juventus winger Soule is among the players the club are said to be prepared to sell as they aim to raise funds for their January business.

Technical director Cristiano Giuntoli has been in England to find out more about those who might be keen on the 20-year-old, and Newcastle appear to be very much in the mix.

Do West Ham need a striker in January?

West Ham’s striker situation remains the matter of debate, with Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus alternating in the role in Thursday’s win at Spurs.

With Michail Antonio out injured, questions remain over a potential addition in January, but manager David Moyes is happy with Bowen after the former Hull man scored again in the week.

“Jarrod has always scored goals, even when he was at Hull before he came here,” Moyes said. “He’s scored a lot of goals coming off wide areas, but I think he has showed he can play centrally as well.

“There are games we will play him wide and there are games where we will play him as a centre-forward.”
