There is never a dull moment around the LSU Lady Tigers.

With defending national champion LSU leading Northwestern State 71-30 with just under five minutes remaining on Sunday, Aneesah Morrow drove to the basket and appeared to make a layup that would have given her the basket and the foul, except the official called a charge.

Head coach Kim Mulkey proceeded to go ballistic over the offensive foul call, and get ejected.

In the middle of the tempest, Angel Reese came over to hold her coach back before other teammates and assistant coaches took over for her.

“I’ve been tossed before,” Mulkey said, as covered by The Advocate. “It was time.”

This was the first time she’s been ejected since she became LSU coach in 2021.

Mulkey explained that she effectively dared the official to throw her out of the game.

“I think I helped him,” Mulkey said. “I said, ‘I’m not leaving, so you’d better toss me.’”

Reese smiled when asked about the brouhaha after the game.

“It was fun,” Reese said. “We know she has our back and we have her back.”

After getting upset in their first game of the season by Colorado, LSU has won 11 games in a row.

Along the way, Reese received something of a four-game shadow suspension from Mulkey before returning on Nov. 30 against Virginia Tech.

“Just coming back and doing whatever it takes to win, and I did as much as I could today,” Reese said after her return to the LSU lineup. “Seeing this team grow from when I wasn’t here really shows a lot and I’m really happy for this team, where we’re at right now.”
