Where Nebraska and Creighton are in the volleyball rankings

After falling in the national championship match, Nebraska volleyball ends the season at No. 2 in the final AVCA poll, while Creighton was ranked No. 15. 

The Huskers had previously spent six straight weeks atop the rankings before Texas won the national title and the No. 1 spot.

Rounding out the top five are: No. 3 Wisconsin, No. 4 Pittsburgh and No. 5 Stanford.

Nebraska’s NCAA tournament run went all the way to Tampa, where the Huskers swept Pittsburgh in the Final Four before being swept by the Longhorns in the championship. NU ended the season 33-2, were the Big Ten champions and had four players selected as All-Americans. John Cook was named the AVCA Coach of the Year.

The Big Ten has four teams in the final Top 25 with No. 2 Nebraska, No. 3 Wisconsin, No. 12 Penn State and No. 13 Purdue. Future conference opponents came in at No. 7 Oregon and No. 24 USC.

After making the NCAA tournament for the 12th straight season, Creighton finishes the season ranked No. 15.

CU’s season came to an end in the Sweet 16, when the Bluejays lost a five-set match to No. 1 seed Louisville.

The Jays (29-5) claimed not only the Big East regular-season title but the Big East tournament title and had two All-Americans this season. 

Creighton is the lone Big East team in the final Top 25, though Marquette received votes.
