Women’s basketball Power 10 rankings stand pat heading into new year
No chaos again, so let’s run through the final Power 10 rankings of 2023 and look ahead to highlight who has a big test in Week 8.
- South Carolina (1) — The Gamecocks host local opposition East Carolina, who made the tournament last year and is riding a five-game winning streak.
- UCLA (2) — The Bruins look westward as they prepare for crosstown rival Southern Cal in the first rendition of the Battle of LA.
- NC State (3) — The Wolfpack open conference play on the road at Virginia.
- Southern California (4) — As I mentioned, the Battle of LA is coming up and the Trojans look to remain undefeated.
- LSU (5) — The Baltimore Barbie is coming off a successful homecoming trip against Coppin State and has one more tune-up game against Jacksonville this week.
- Iowa (6) — The Hawkeyes open up conference play against a successful Gopher squad whose only non-conference loss was to UConn.
- Colorado (7) — The Buffs open conference play against Utah, who look to break back into the top 10.
- Texas (8) — The Longhorns face a scrappy Jackson State team, who just gave Miami a challenge, followed by a conference opener against No. 10 Baylor.
- Stanford (9) — The Cardinal open conference play against Cal, who had a pretty solid non-conference schedule.
- Baylor (10) — The Bears are still undefeated and getting ready for the Longhorns.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2024!
