The December 23 matchup between Arsenal and Liverpool smashed the record for most-viewed Premier League game in the United States.

On Wednesday, it was reported that the 1-1 draw between the two powerhouses amassed 2.28million viewers across television and streaming platforms.

NBC’s broadcast reportedly had 1.96m viewers while Peacock contributed 464,000. Telemundo made up the remainder of the total haul.

Arsenal have now broken a record they previously held with a 3-2 win over Manchester United in January.

The previous record-holder tallied 1.92m from NBC and Peacock while Telemundo garnered 382,000 viewers.

Arsenal and Liverpool’s 1-1 draw became the most-watched Premier League game in the US

The two clubs will meet again on January 7 in the FA Cup and February 4 in the Premier League

The 1-1 stalemate saw an early goal from Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes in the fourth minute. However, the Gunners’ lead would be erased in the 29th by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Both sides matched each other blow for blow for 90 minutes, making the game a must-see occasion despite there being no winner.

They each took 13 shot with Liverpool putting three on-frame and Arsenal putting two of their own. They nearly split the possession with Liverpool just edging with 51 per cent. Liverpool also made 442 passes with an 80 per cent accuracy while Arsenal made 423 with a 79 per cent success rate.

Even the number of fouls, corner kicks and offsides were virtually identical with the only lopsided statistic being Arsenal’s five yellow cards to Liverpool’s two.

Liverpool currently sit on top of the Premier League table with 42 points. Meanwhile, Arsenal trail behind them with 40. Both teams have also won their last two outings.

The two clubs will have time to settle their unfinished business with two matches set early in 2024. They will meet on January 7 for the third round of the FA Cup and again on February 4 for a Premier League rematch.
