Wildcats ‘take souls’ all the way to club rugby national championship

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Kentucky rugby head coach Sam Enari delivered an all-time quote in November when his team was gearing up for a playoff matchup against N.C. State, saying “we want to take what they see as their strengths and shove it back down their throats and take their souls.”

If the Wildcats lost, that statement could have came back to haunt him and his team. Instead, his players backed him up as UK dominated all the way to the National Collegiate Rugby national championship.

What better way to compete for a title than to face an in-state rival while doing it. Kentucky battled Louisville in the Division I-AA national championship on December 9th and rolled to a 43-28 win for the first national title in program history.

Enari and freshman Blaine Donlon sat down with FOX 56 Sports Director Michael Epps to recap a magical season for the Wildcats.
