AMES, Iowa – Christy Johnson-Lynch has announced the addition of Tierney Jackson, a transfer from West Virginia.

“We recruited Tierney out of high school and I’ve always thought she was a terrific athlete and wonderful young woman,” Johnson-Lynch said. “She’s a great blocker and hits the slide exceptionally well. She’s also a hard worker and great teammate. Tierney played both middle and right side the past two years, so she’ll add versatility and experience to an already talented team here at Iowa State. She’s exactly the type of player we were hoping to land in this transfer window and an awesome fit for our program.”

Jackson joins the Cyclones as a middle blocker/pin hitter after completing two seasons at WVU. Jackson originates from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Jackson led West Virginia in both of her first two seasons of collegiate action. In 2023, Jackson put up 83 blocks (7 solo, 76 assists) while totaling the fourth most kills on the team with 199 at a hitting percentage of .228. She also had 62 digs and 14 aces and put up seven or more total blocks in five matches. As a freshman in 2022, Jackson led the Mountaineers with 91 total blocks and was one of two to start every match.

At Tulsa Union High School, Jackson was one of eight outside hitters nationwide chosen for the U19 USA Volleyball National Team Development Program in 2021. The Oklahoma native also earned All-State honors and entered college as the No. 38 recruit in the class of 2022.
