Ange Postecoglou has been holding his press conference ahead of Tottenham’s Premier League match against Brighton.

The Spurs boss will have a stronger squad than normal to face Roberto De Zerbi’s men at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and those players will be looking to get revenge for the 4-2 defeat at the Amex Stadium in December. Postecoglou has been boosted by the return of captain Son Heung-min and Yves Bissouma from the Asian Cup and Africa Cup of Nations respectively, following Pape Matar Sarr’s return from the latter competition last week.

Son played on Tuesday in South Korea’s semi-final defeat to Jordan and had a long flight home to London before returning to training on Thursday. It’s a quick turnaround for the Spurs skipper and Bissouma tested positive for malaria early in the competition so both players’ fitness and readiness to play will have to be assessed. Midfielder Giovani Lo Celso also appeared to be back in training in recent footage released by the club.

It is also the first time Postecoglou has really had to speak about the signing of 18-year-old Swedish starlet Lucas Bergvall, who will join the club from Djurgarden in the summer. The Tottenham boss will also likely be asked about the reported plans to trial blue sin-bin cards in the game at lower levels, with the Australian not normally a fan of tinkering with the rules of the game.

Our Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold is among those putting the questions to Postecoglou. Scroll down for his latest updates from the press conference at Hotspur Way.

Postecoglou on whether he sees Bentancur as a number six or eight with the return of Bissouma

I see him as a midfielder who can play for us and hopefully we’re getting away from sixes and eights.

Postecoglou on the late goals conceded

It’s disappointing to concede goals late. It’s disappointing to concede goals early, either side of half-time is not great. Round about the 70th minute mate you get disappointed. Mate I don’t care. I get it, people will want to analyse it. That’s fine. We’re always going to be a team that scores goals or concedes goals late. The way we want to close out games is by scoring more goals. That’s not going to satisfy everyone and the statisticians’ heads will explode with me explaining it that way but it’s just the team we want to be and that’s the most important thing for me. The thing for me that we haven’t done so far and what we won’t do is jump at shadows trying to fix what the current potential issue is. We’re still building a team here and…
