GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The first ever in-season player transaction has occurred in the Professional Volleyball Federation and it involves the Grand Rapids Rise.

Kenna Sauer, an outside hitter on the team’s practice squad, was picked up and will now join the Vegas Thrill’s active roster. Sauer had yet to play in a game for the Rise this season.

Sauer was the 18th overall pick in the PVF draft back in December. She spent five years playing collegiate volleyball for three different teams: Texas Tech, Houston and Missouri. She was a third-team All-American in 2023 and a three-time All-Big 12 first-teamer.

She joins the Thrill who are 1-1 and will have their first home game on Thursday. The Rise currently sit at 2-1 and were the last team to lose a game in the PVF.

The Rise’s next game will be at home at van Andel Arena against the Atlanta Vibe on Sunday at 4 p.m.
