Topgolf Burlingame set to open in 2024

(KRON) — Topgolf is opening its second Bay Area location this year. The golf entertainment complex will open in Burlingame, according to Burlingame Parks & Recreation.

The Peninsula location is estimated to be open by the end of 2024, city officials said. The Topgolf will be located at 250 Anza Blvd., which is near the Crowne Plaza’s and DoubleTree’s SFO hotel locations.

Topgolf in Burlingame will be the second location in the Bay Area. Right now, the lone Topgolf in the region is in San Jose, which opened in April 2021. The opening of this 13-acre entertainment facility is set to bring a lot of visitors to Burlingame, especially on weekends.

Burlingame Mayor Donna Colson is “excited” for the city to open up a Topgolf.

“Burlingame is very excited to partner with TopGolf and we look forward to the strong economic growth, especially with our hotel conferences,” Colson told KRON4 via email.

At a proposed 70,000+ square-foot site, the Topgolf will have three floors, 102 climate-controlled hitting bays, a restaurant, outdoor dining and an indoor event space.

The Topgolf will have 475 parking spaces spread out across the main building and driving range in two parking lots, according to Burlingame officials.

Colson added the increased foot traffic Topgolf guests will bring to Burlingame is good for local businesses.

Topgolf Project Background

In the summer of 2016, Burlingame issued a “Request for Proposals” for vacant land, preferably a golf or other recreational or entertainment activity that would be open to the public. In March 2017, the Burlingame City Council chose Topgolf as the operator of the site.

A year later, the city adopted an “Exclusive Negotiating Agreement (ENA) with Topgolf,” finalizing a lease agreement in December 2022.

Construction for the site began on April 4, 2023.

The next closest Topgolf outside the Bay Area is in Roseville, which is approximately 25 miles northeast of Sacramento. The other three California Topgolf locations are in the Los Angeles area.
