SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Swing Loose Golf, which describes itself as “Topgolf but indoors,” wants to open on Route 1 in the Monmouth Junction section.

Bruder Properties has applied to the township Zoning Board of Adjustment for a use variance to allow for a combined restaurant and lounge with indoor golf simulators at 4250 Route 1.

Papers filed with the application to the township describe Swing Loose as “a dynamic recreational and dining experience.”

Plans call for a restaurant and bar with 301 seats.

The plans also have six “golf suites” where golfers will hit balls into simulators. Those suites will have 54 seats. Plans also propose 44 outside seats.

The plans also have separate entrances for the restaurant and the golf suites.

The existing 40,000-square-foot, one story-building located on five acres will be repurposed for Swing Loose.

Because the property is located in an OP Zone, a use variance is required from the Zoning Board of Adjustment because restaurants are not a permitted use.

A variance may also be required for the number of parking spaces. The plans call for 198 spaces where 237 may be required.

The project was designed by Michael Graves Architecture in Princeton.

The public hearing on the application is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 7.
