Day 5 at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Monte Carlo will feature all eight Round of 16 matches, including an on-fire Jannik Sinner, who’s already won a Slam and a Masters 1000 in 2024, and a Top 10 matchup between last week’s Estoril champion Hubert Hurkacz and back-to-back Roland Garros finalist Casper Ruud.

ATP Monte Carlo Day 5 Predictions

Jan-Lennard Struff vs Jannik Sinner

Head-to-head: Sinner 1-0 Struff

Struff has been playing quite well so far in this tournament, but Sinner has firmly established himself as one of the world’s best players and there’s almost a sense of inevitability every time he steps out on court these days. Just like when they faced in Indian Wells, Struff should be able to put up some resistance but it’s hard to see him actually prevailing.
Prediction: Sinner in 2

Lorenzo Sonego vs Ugo Humbert

Head-to-head: Humbert 2-2 Sonego

Humbert has been having a great season so far, but has failed to make a real impact at the biggest events. He has a chance to reach a first big event quarterfinal this year and he should be able to overcome Sonego, who is in the main draw as a lucky loser and got a win over a completely out of sorts Felix Auger-Aliassime to make it this far.
Prediction: Humbert in 3

Hubert Hurkacz vs Casper Ruud

Head-to-head: Ruud 1-1 Hurkacz

It will be a duel between two Top 10 players: Hurkacz is high on confidence after winning Estoril last week and winning two rounds here in Monte Carlo already, but on this surface Ruud should have the edge. The two time Roland Garros finalist is still looking for a first title above 500 and this is about as good a chance as any to aim for that.
Prediction: Ruud in 2
