Kyle Larson loses tire leading NASCAR Texas Cup race

Polesitter Kyle Larson lost his right rear tire off his No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Camaro on Sunday during the NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway while leading the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400.

Larson went from first place to being two laps down due to the penalty. He had led for 77 laps at the time of the incident.

The single lug nut on the wheel of Larson’s Gen-7 car came off during the race, forcing him to pit. Larson said on his radio he felt like he had a flat tire.

On the restart after the caution Denny Hamlin moved into the lead followed by Martin Truex Jr. and Tyler Reddick.

Larson had claimed his third straight pole. He was coming off a second place finish at the Cook Out 400 last week at Martinsville Speedway.
