OLIVESBURG — The way veteran Crestview volleyball coach Jody Ritchey sees it, Tiffin University is getting a steal.

Kenedi Goon is that talented.

Goon, The Richland Source Volleyball Player of the Year, is headed to Tiffin next fall after capping a spectacular high school career late last month. The 6-foot-2 outside hitter landed a spot on the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association All-Ohio first team in Division III after leading the Cougars to a 16-7 record.

Goon recorded 412 kills on the season, giving her 1,318 for her career. She also had 1,004 career digs. She was selected the Firelands Conference Player of the Year, the first Crestview player to earn that award since Shiva Davis in 1996.

What’s more, Goon is also a standout in the classroom. She has a 4.0 grade point average.

Goon is the headliner on an All-Richland Source team that includes five other All-Ohioans:

Karli Shepherd, Ashland: The senior was selected the Ohio Cardinal Conference Offensive Player of the Year after piling up 305 kills on the season. Shepherd was selected to the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association All-Ohio third team in Division I after leading the Arrows to a share of the Ohio Cardinal Conference title.

Kayla Hardy, Galion: A senior setter, Hardy was selected the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Year and earned a spot on the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association All-Ohio second team in Division II. Hardy will graduate with 3,295 career assists, sixth on the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s career list. She had 772 assists on the season as the Tigers (17-5, 12-0) won an outright MOAC title.

Samantha Comer, Galion: A senior outside hitter, Comer was an Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association All-Ohio honorable mention selection in Division II. She had 316 kills on the season and 1,115 in her career, helping the Tigers reach the Division II district championship game.
