MotoGP has a new crash king after Kasma Daniel unseated Johann Zarco
The Moto2 rider fell 20 times in 2020, just one more than the next closest in Jorge Navarro.
According to MotoGP.com, a ‘fall’ is defined as the bike ‘physically touching the ground and remaining on the ground’.

The 2019 champ Zarco had 15 crashes while the man he had taken the mantle from in 2018, Marc Marquez, managed just the two falls.
That in itself though was impressive considering he did not make it through one full race in 2020.
The six-time MotoGP world champ has always recorded plenty of crashes throughout his career, with 11, 13, 17, 27, 23 and 14 before this year.
The broken arm he suffered during the opening round of the delayed season at the Spanish Grand Prix proved too much though, with a second operation eventually ruling him out as a slow recovery process placed doubts over his availability for the start of the 2021 season.
In terms of Aussie talent, Jack Miller finished with eight crashes having scored 15, 17, 14, 25 and 18 in the past five years.
Meanwhile, Remy Gardner had nine from his 2020 season, which of course ended with his first victory in Moto2.

One of the more crazy crashes that made headlines came from Aron Canet at the French Grand Prix.
Lauded for his quick thinking, Canet had to scramble across the grid after a group of bikes came screaming down the hill.
Joan Mir, meanwhile, came up with the ‘greatest recovery in history’ when he fell of his bike at the French Grand Prix but managed to pick up speed and land on his two feet before running off.
“It was pretty impressive wasn’t it,” MotoGP winner Chris Vermeulen said.
“The crash wasn’t but the way he just slipped out and jumped to speed and got back on his feet. Joan has done this perfect. I don’t know if he has been practicing that.”
He did not even stop for one moment, instead jogging over in a fluid motion to retrieve his bike but it did prove costly in the end, falling to 12th.

2020 saw the lowest tally of total crashes across MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto 3, yet again failing to reach the 1000 mark.
There were a total of 722 falls, almost 100 less than the previous lowest mark of 825 recorded all the way back in 2010.
This of course was influenced by the fact there were 15 rounds this year as opposed to the usual 19/18.
The ratio of falls per number of events though was higher than the previous year in the MotoGP and Moto2.
In terms of circuits with the most crashes, the French GP ranked the highest with 100.
