There have been four stadiums built upon the same ground in Toronto, including twice when the stadium was destroyed by fire (1906 and 1947).

NASCAR held one Cup Series race there on a .333-mile paved track in 1958. While Lee Petty (pictured) won the race, it was also the more notable as it marked the first of 1,184 career starts for his son, NASCAR’s King, Richard Petty (Richard started seventh and finished 17th in a 19-car field).

The track was was shorter than Martinsville (.526 miles). Nearly nearly a carbon copy of Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Lee Petty’s winning speed was 43.184 miles per hour and marked the only Cup race at the facility.
