USC Women’s Volleyball Adds Middle Blocker Isabel Fowlkes

Women’s Volleyball | May 09, 2023

LOS ANGELES – The USC women’s volleyball program has added middle blocker Isabel Fowlkes (Chevy Chase, Md./Maret School) ahead of the 2023 season, fourth-year head coach Brad Keller announced on Tuesday, May 9.

“I am excited to have Isabel Fowlkes join our program,” said Keller. “She brings an explosive and electric style of play that modern volleyball programs thrive on. She is an amazing person and is a positive presence both on and off the court. We’re looking forward to her arrival on campus this summer and to seeing what she can bring to the team.”

The 6-1 Fowlkes can play as a middle blocker or opposite hitter and prepped at The Maret School. She is just the second Trojan to hail from the state of Maryland and the first since Dr. Stefanie Bodison (1988-91, Rockville, Md.). In 2021, Fowlkes was named to the AVCA Phenom List, JVA Ultra Ankle Watch List, and the PrepVolleyball.com Watch List. With a 10-3 vertical reach, Fowlkes was also on the 2023 PrepVolleyball.com Club Watch List for middle blockers. She played for both the Virginia Elite Volleyball Club and the Metro Volleyball Club of Washington and helped her team to a 19th-place national finish.

Under fourth-year head coach Brad Keller, USC (22-11) finished fourth in the Pac-12 standings (13-7) in 2022 and was awarded one of 32 at-large berths into the NCAA tournament. The Women of Troy defeated High Point in the first round of the tourney but were eliminated by 10th-ranked site host Ohio State. It was the first NCAA tournament victory for Keller and the program’s first appearance in the tourney since 2019. Outside hitter Skylar Fields was named to the AVCA All-America first team.
