Paige Spiranac wants the PGA Tour to allow golfers to wear shorts when needed, referencing Lucas Glover‘s “swamp a–” from his 2023 FedEx Cup victory on Sunday in Memphis.

Spiranac, 30, has long advocated for the rule to change, especially due to her revealing outfits while out on the golf course. She ranted about why shorts are necessary in the sport and lashed out at those who cite “tradition” as a reason to always wear pants.

“The men on the PGA Tour should absolutely be able to wear shorts and the rule needs to change right now,” Spiranac said. “Lucas Glover won for the second week in a row in a hot and humid Memphis.

“He also won for the worst documented case of swamp a– that we have ever seen. The guys were absoulutely dying. They were even sticking their hands in the ice coolers to bring their body temperature down. It is 2023, get it together, give the guys an option to wear shorts.”

Spiranac is talking about how Glover was sweating through his pants when she says “swamp a–.” He also dunked his hands in the ice cold water as long as possible to keep them from sweating ahead of the winning putt.

She went on to lash out at those who say professional golfers themselves would refuse to wear shorts because of “tradition.”

“And I know what a couple of you are saying out there,” Spiranac continued. “‘Well, it’s tradition and they want to look like professionals.’ You’re saying that in the air conditioning on your nice, cool couch, drinking an ice cold beer.

“Of course you don’t mind. But these guys are athletes playing in extreme conditions. Let them wear shorts.”

Glover, 43, became the first golfer over the age of 40 to win back-to-back PGA Tour tournaments since 2008, swamp a– and all.
