Arsenal set for double exit as Mikel Arteta handed transfer cash boost

Arsenal’s squad looks set to be trimmed before the end of the summer transfer window, with Mikel Arteta readying for a number of exits.

The Gunners have already completed the majority of their business when it comes to incomings, spending roughly £200million so far. Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, David Raya and Jurrien Timber have all joined up with the squad, though the latter has recently suffered a serious knee injury that could prompt another move in the market.

There are still a number of players within the squad that aren’t making the final selection for matchdays at this stage, prompting potential exits. Matt Turner is one that made way last week to join Nottingham Forest, with more expected to follow in the coming weeks.

Kieran Tierney is one of those who missed the squad to face the East Midlands outfit at the Emirates Stadium over the past weekend. The Scottish international has been linked with a move, alongside the likes of Nicolas Pepe, Folarin Balogun and Cedric Soares, who seem to have a future held elsewhere.

They aren’t the only ones as CBS Sports claims that both Nuno Tavares and Rob Holding could make way in the next few weeks of the window. The former enjoyed a mix spell on loan with Marseille last season, but is yet to feature for the Gunners since his return to the club.

The report claims that Nottingham Forest are in talks to land the Portuguese youngster, with progression towards a deal being sealed. As for Holding, the defender has been a squad member for some time, but has slowly seen his position move further and further away from the starting lineup.

The former Bolton centre-back is expected to make an exit this summer, with teams in Turkey linked with making a potential switch. It remains to be seen whether both will make the move, however it could give Arteta a slight cash boost to his transfer warchest that may add one or two other options to his disposal.
