Tech Basketball Adds Pair of Prep Prospects – Men’s Basketball — Georgia Tech

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s basketball has added a pair of prep prospects for the 2023-24 season in high school teammates Naithan George, a 6-3 guard, and Ibrahim Souare, a 6-9 forward, who have signed grants-in-aid to join the Georgia Tech program, head coach Damon Stoudamire announced.

George, a native of Toronto, Ontario, and Souare, a native of Guinea, were teammates this past season at Dream City Christian International School in Glendale, Ariz. They bring to four the number of incoming scholarship freshmen on the Yellow Jackets’ roster in 2023-24.

“Both of these players have the ability to impact our program,” said Stoudamire. “Nait is a good, solid player who will contribute for us. He can shoot and pass the ball, and he has a chance to be a good player in this program. Ibrahim can rebound the ball. He’s a rim-runner and a shot-blocker. He’s longer that you think, and he’s an out-of-his-area rebounder, that’s his forte.”

George averaged 15 points, eight assists and five rebounds during the 2022-23 season at Dream City, and attracted major attention at the 2023 Peach Jam in the summer, where he earned all-breakout honors while playing for the Arizona Unity team, averaging 10 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists over six games.

Souare also impressed at the Peach Jam, averaging 7.7 points and 5.8 rebounds over six games for Arizona Unity. He also competed for Guinea in the 2022 FIBA U18 African Championship in Madagascar, averaging 11.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists across six games.

George and Souare join 6-6 forward Ibrahima Sacko from J. Addison School in Markham, Ontario, and 6-9 forward Baye Ndongo from Putnam (Conn.) Science Academy, in Tech’s freshman class, as well as a five-player transfer class ranked No. 17 in the nation by 247Sports.
