Djokovic: “I don’t like losing, but we achieved our goal”

In the press conference, Djokovic analyzed the match and his team’s qualification.

He said: “We spoke as a team and, since mathematically we were already qualified, we thought my presence in the singles was not necessary.

I wanted to play doubles, even though we were 0-2 down. Nikola and I don’t play much together, in general I don’t play doubles, and training is different from the match. This is the best couple we can field in Malaga. I don’t like losing.

My feelings aren’t the best at the moment, but I’m happy that we fought until the end. We’ve already achieved our goal, which was to qualify for the Finals in Malaga, so it’s fantastic.”Djokovic finally focused on the wonderful welcome that the Spanish crowd has given him in recent days.

He said: “The reception from the crowd was incredible, especially for the doubles match.

We didn’t expect so many people to be there until the end. It was great. Thank you very much to all the Spaniards for coming today without any home tennis player playing. They made us feel at home. I didn’t know how people would welcome me, it’s been a long time since I’ve been here, but they were very kind. Maybe speaking Spanish helped.”
