Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez will need another round of surgery to fix an ongoing metatarsal issue from last season.

That setback in April ended the centre-back‘s season and now, he might not be back again until 2024. Meanwhile, Ten Hag has given an update on the selection availability of Antony.

On Saturday, the winger trained back at United for the first time since his period of absence amid allegations of abuse against women, claims he strongly denies. He could be in contention for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Galatasaray.

With one eye on the January window, meanwhile, Juventus star Federico Chiesa is supposedly drumming up “interest” from United after the club spent £180million-plus on Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund this summer.

United have already ‘identified’ January targets

Football Insider claims Erik ten Hag is looking at potentially signing a number of players in January, if funds allow.

The report says there is ‘no panic’ at Old Trafford despite the club’s poor start to the season but that a number of targets have already been identified.

United spent more than £170m over the summer with club officials concerned about Financial Fair Play rules. It is unclear how much will be available to spend in the new year as a result.
