The latest batch of Manchester United players have been on international duty over the next 24 hours as the first week of the October break comes towards the end.

Marcus Rashford came off the bench for England while Bruno Fernandes got two assists in Portugal’s win over Slovakia, starting alongside Diogo Dalot. Hannibal Mejbri also played for Tunisia.

Erik ten Hag will be anxious to get all of his players back unharmed and will be left sweating on the fitness of Casemiro, who was substituted for Brazil earlier this week after suffering an ankle injury. Victor Lindelof also missed Sweden’s first game after being assessed earlier in the week.

The Dutchman has continued work at Carrington this week as he looks to build on last weekend’s dramatic win over Brentford. United travel to Sheffield United next Saturday for the return of Premier League action.

In matters off the pitch, minutes of a recent fans forum have been published in which CEO Richard Arnold spoke about the ongoing takeover process, the thinking behind their decisions on Mason Greenwood and Antony and why Joel Glazer isn’t able to attend such meetings himself.

Sheikh Jassim ‘withdraws’ from takeover process

Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al-Thani has reportedly withdrawn from the United takeover race.

CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs claims the Qatari had reached advanced stages of talks after submitting a £5billion bid, which is worth double the market valuation of the club.

However, it is said Sheikh Al-Thani feels the Glazers’ own valuation of the club is ‘outlandish’.

OPINION: Ten Hag’s strongest starting XI after United injury crisis ends

“The one bit of solace is that United have a clear light at the end of the tunnel. When everyone is back available again United should, in theory at least, be able to get back to their best and continue the progress they were on before this year’s disruption. It’s interesting to think what Erik ten Hag’s strongest starting XI will look like when he has a full complement of players to choose from once more. Andre Onana will continue in goal regardless of his difficult start. The goalkeeper has already made several high-profile mistakes which has seen him come under pressure but there was bound to be growing pains and removing him from the side would be a step backwards.”
