INJURY SPOTLIGHT: One of Wales’ key players is set to be on the sidelines for the next few months.

Captain Jac Morgan had knee surgery last week and Ospreys head coach Toby Booth admitted that it would be difficult for his star player to be involved in the Six Nation, which starts on the first weekend in February.

Wales start their campaign with a match against Scotland in Cardiff on February 3.

“The operation was a success and the right thing to do and it needed to be done,” Booth told reporters after his team’s Boxing Day win over the Scarlets.

“He is a young man who heals quickly but the certainty about being a professional player is you know you are going to spend time injured and that resilience will be tested.

“We will look forward to getting him better off the pitch so when he comes back, which will be months not weeks, he will hit the ground running.”

Wales head coach Warren Gatland chose Morgan and hooker Dewi Lake as co-captains for the 2023 World Cup in France.

Morgan was then named captain for the uncapped match against the Barbarians in November.
