United have recalled striker Charlie McNeill from his loan spell at Stevenage and he is now set to stay at Old Trafford for the remainder of the 2023/24 season.

The 20-year-old joined the League One side on the final day of the summer transfer window and made an impression by scoring on his debut against Leyton Orient, but he has struggled for game time since then.

Since then McNeill has started just two further games, lasting 45 minutes against Carlisle and 57 minutes against Cheltenham, and he hasn’t played for Steve Evans’ side since September. He has been an unused substitute four times but struggled to force his way into Evans’ side, with Stevenage surprise play-off challengers in the third tier.

The MEN revealed last month that McNeill would be recalled and he’s now returned to United, where he will stay for the remainder of the season.

McNeill will be available to feature in Premier League 2 games, with United 10th in the 26-team table. The striker could also seek first-team training opportunities, with Erik ten Hag short of forwards at the moment and Anthony Martial still absent with illness. Jadon Sancho and Facundo Pellistri could leave the club on loan.
