Ridgeland native, all-conference defensive back commits to Ole Miss football


JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Head Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin continues to master and utilize the transfer portal, picking up another highly talented player to build his 2024 roster.

Sunday, former Ridgeland High School football standout Yam Banks announced on X that he will be returning to his home state to play for Ole Miss next season.

The former First Team All-Sun Belt Conference safety recorded 146 tackles, 2.5 sacks, seven interceptions, and three forced fumbles as a South Alabama Jaguar over the last four seasons.

He earned Third Team All-Sun Belt honors last season and can also play in the cornerback position.

Banks has one year of eligibility left.
