Former Kearney Catholic standout Maddie Squiers was one of four players waived Wednesday by the Omaha Supernovas professional volleyball team.

Squiers, a 5-foot-8 setter, played collegiately at UNK. She finished her career with more than 6,600 assists.

Also waived Wednesday were right-side hitter Jazz Schmidt, outside hitter Maggie King and libero Kristen Tupac. Schmidt spent most of her collegiate career at Palm Beach Atlantic but transferred to Creighton in 2022 for her final season.

The four waived players are eligible to sign with another Professional Volleyball Federation team.

The cuts trimmed the Supernovas roster to 18. Omaha must establish a 14-player roster by Monday, two days before the team’s season-opening match against Atlanta.
