About 2½ weeks after announcing that she will be leaving the Nebraska volleyball program later this spring, Ally Batenhorst has announced that she’ll play her final college season for Southern California as a graduate transfer.

USC will be joining Nebraska in the Big Ten this fall. Batenhorst also plans to play one season of beach volleyball at USC, which has one of the top beach volleyball programs with five NCAA championships.

She made her decision after a trip to California last week. USC finished with a 19-13 record and No. 24 in the final AVCA rankings after reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Batenhorst played her first three seasons for the Huskers. But she’ll graduate in May and decided to find a new school for her final season and to begin work on a master’s degree. She also plans to play professional volleyball after her college career.

Batenhorst is planning to still play for the Nebraska beach volleyball team this spring. And she’ll have the opportunity to practice some with the Huskers this spring, as other former players, such as Callie Schwarzenbach, have.

Batenhorst grew up in Texas, but was born in Omaha and had many connections to the state. Her parents are each from Nebraska, and her grandparents attended many Huskers matches to watch her play.
