Day 2 of the ATP 250 in Los Cabos, Mexico continues with teenager Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez making his Tour debut in front of his home fans. There’ll also be three other matches in the cards. Who will continue the party in Los Cabos?

ATP Los Cabos Day 2 Predictions

Flavio Cobolli vs Yoshihito Nishioka

Head–to–Head: First Meeting

Flavio Cobolli has already won a dozen matches on hard courts this year and he’ll be taking that momentum into his debut at this event. Apart from the Davis Cup matches, his Japanese opponent hasn’t done much this season apart from defeating lucky loser Terence Atmane in the first round at Delray.

Nishioka withdrew from last week’s event and it remains to be seen what version of him steps on court. On his day, he’s a dangerous player but I’ll back the more in-form Italian to edge their first matchup.
Prediction: Cobolli in 3

Jordan Thompson vs Ernesto Escobedo

Head–to–Head: Thompson 0 vs 1 Escobedo

Ernesto Escobedo has only managed a solitary win this year (via retirement) and even though he’ll be motivated to put up a performance in front of his home fans, can’t see how he gets anything from a player of Jordan Thompson’s quality. The Aussie should wrap this up pretty quickly.
Prediction: Thompson in 2

Aleksander Vukic vs Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez

Head–to–Head: First Meeting

The left-handed Mexican teenager will experience what it feels like to play on the main Tour on his debut but that will be all for him as he hands Aleksander Vukic his first win of the season.
Prediction: Vukic in 2

Miomir Kecmanovic vs Rinky Hijikata

Head–to–Head: First Meeting

Miomir Kecmanovic hasn’t won a match since his 4th round loss to Carlos Alcaraz at the Australian Open and this will be an opportunity to get his season back on track. His opponent, Hijikata has fared slightly better though, making a fine at the ATP event in Delray last week before being defeated by eventual champion Taylor Fritz.

Kecmanovic is the more solid player but his form and fitness are questionable at the moment. I’ll back the Australian in a match that should go the distance.
Prediction: Hijikata in 3
