Arch Manning opting out of EA Sports college football video game

With more than 10,000 college football players opting into being part of EA Sports College Football 25, there’s one player who won’t be in the game. 

Texas quarterback Arch Manning has opted out of appearing in the video game, according to Orange Bloods’ Anwar Richardson, in order to focus on his development on the field. 

“Multiple people have told me Texas redshirt quarterback Arch Manning will not opt into EA Sports College Football 25,” Richardson said on X. “I’m told Arch is focused on playing football on the field.”

This year will mark the first time in more than a decade that EA Sports has released a college football video game for console systems since it put out NCAA Football 14. 

The game is set to launch this summer and a spokesperson for EA told ESPN that they had surpassed the 10,000 mark on Friday for college football players opting into their name and likeness being used. 

All 134 FBS teams will be featured with 85-man rosters, with the players that opt into the game receiving $600 and a free copy of the game. 

While Manning won’t appear in the game, the quarterback he backed up last season will be. 

Quinn Ewers announced on social media that he would appear in the highly anticipated college football game. 

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe also announced that he had also agreed to be a part of the game.

EA had released a teaser trailer last month confirming that the video game would be back, receiving much fanfare. 

The full details will be revealed in May. 

The popular video game series ceased being made after NCAA Football 2014 was released in 2013 as the debate raged over student-athletes being compensated for their names, images and likenesses being used. 

The video game never used actual player names, but rosters were created to mimic the players on the team that year.
