Jaron Ennis Remains Honest on Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia: “Top Guys

Jaron Ennis has maintained some silence in the ring and outside. However, when it came to the highly anticipated Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia fight, he chose to break his silence.

On April 20th, at the Barclay’s Center, Brooklyn, ‘KingRy’ will fight Devin Haney for his WBC super lightweight title in a fight that many thought would never see the light of day. However, given Haney’s yearning for that fight and Ry’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya’s efforts, the fight is back on track. What does Jaron Ennis have to say about this elite title fight?

“I think Ryan awkward,” says Boots

Speaking to YSM Sports, the IBF welterweight champion called the fight, “Another good fight.” He explained, “That’s a good fight though… You know, top guys fighting top guys. That’s what everybody’s watching.” 

Speaking about how Garcia would carry on in this fight, Boots noted, “I think, Ryan awkward. He still got that awkward like funny style. You know, Devin got a good jab, you know, so this is a good fight.” 

“I think Ryan will try to go ahead, I don’t think Ryan going to… I think Ryan’s going to try to walk forward and press the action, cause he probably thinks Devin can’t punch. So, he going to try to walk to him and pressure him,” he remarked.

While that’s about how he feels regarding the Garcia-Haney fight, he also teased his next fight in the ring, with a bold prediction.

Jaron Ennis vs.?

In July last year, ‘Boots’ fought Roiman Villa, winning it in the 10th round via a knockout. However, despite the impressive victory, he turned inactive in the ring. To the happiness of his fans, he’s now teased his upcoming fight. While no prominent details about it have been revealed, he wrote on his social media, “Miles in the bag…32-0 29KOs coming soon.” Will his 32nd fight of his career mark his 29th KO victory?

His tease comes in light of the IBF ordering a mandatory title defense against Cody Crowley. The sanctioning body ordered the undefeated fighter in February to defend his status against the Canadian boxer. The IBF chairman noted, “IBF Welterweight Champion Jaron Ennis was promoted to Champion November 28, 2023, his mandatory defense is due on or before March 28, 2024.” 

“Negotiations should commence immediately and be concluded by March 1, 2024 If you are unable to come to an agreement for this bout within the 30 days, the IBF will call for a purse bid,” he added.
