William Zepeda vs Maxi Hughes Betting Analysis

The hard-hitting William Zepeda takes on Britain’s Maxi Hughes this weekend over in Las Vegas as both men look to line themselves up for a major title shot in the lightweight division in the very near future.

William Zepeda has 25 KO’s in 29 fights, the last of which came via a 6th-round stoppage of Mercito Gesta back in September, as he continues to carve his way through the 135lb division.

Maxi Hughes meanwhile comes off an extremely controversial decision against former undisputed champion George Kambosos Jr. back in July, a fight many felt the Englishman deserved to win, as he looks for redemption this weekend against Zepeda.

William Zepeda goes into this weekend’s fight as the prohibitive -1200 favorite, with Maxi Hughes coming back as a +650 underdog.

Zepeda Knocking On The Door At 135

With an undefeated record and an electric 86% KO percentage to boot, there’s only so long the other champions at 135lb can ignore the Mexican tornado William Zepeda getting a title shot in the very near future.

Both the IBF and WBO are currently vacant, with Zepeda being ranked as the #1 contender for both the WBC (Shakur Stevenson) and WBA (Gervonta Davis) belts, so a major title shot is likely imminent for Zepeda should he get past Maxi Hughes this Saturday.

Hughes Looks For A Better Trip Stateside This Time Around

It’s fair to say that Hughes’ first trip to the United States didn’t go to plan as he came off on the wrong end of a majority decision loss against former undisputed champion George Kambosos Jr.

In what was a close fight throughout, Maxi Hughes seemed to have done enough in the exchanges to get the nod, proving that his previous win against Kid Galahad was no fluke, with the Englishman, to many observers at least, seemingly edging the fight overall.

However, two of the judges disagreed with that assessment and Hughes lost his IBO title as a result. He’ll look to make it second time lucky in Las Vegas this weekend.
