President and CEO Jamie Davis leaving USA Volleyball at year’s end

USA Volleyball President and CEO Jamie Davis will not renew his contract with the organization after it expires at the end of the year.

Davis, 58, who started at USA Volleyball in 2017, will continue to oversee the organization through the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris.

In a news release USAV said that Davis will “serve as an executive consultant to assist the board of directors with a smooth leadership transition.”

In an email to USA Volleyball region commissioners, Davis said, “I am very excited for my next chapter which I will be making public later this year. In the meantime, it is 100% status quo through September 30th and we have a lot to be excited about as we lead into and through the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

In the USAV news release, Davis reflected on the past seven years.

“USA Volleyball memberships have grown by nearly 30% over that span to 425,000, our teams won three gold medals at the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic games, our women are the reigning beach world champions and the organization is in the healthiest financial situation in its history. I feel that following this Olympic quadrennial it is a good time for another leader to take the reigns and to build on the solid foundation we have created,” Davis said.

“I would like to thank our dedicated staff, the 40 USA Volleyball regions and our board of directors for all of their hard work and support. Without them, such success could not have been achieved. I look forward to working with the board and our management team to ensure a smooth transition over the remainder of the year.”

Added Dave Gentile, chair of the USAV board, “Jamie’s departure will surely create a void for USAV, as he has been instrumental in leading the enterprise to new heights and accomplishments during his seven-year tenure,

“The Board appreciates all he has done for USAV and the sport of volleyball. He clearly is leaving the organization in a much better position than when he arrived.

For all he has done, the USAV Board is genuinely proud to have collaborated with Jamie these past seven years.

“We wish him only the best in his new ventures.”
