When we asked Cameron Brink in the fall what her plans for the future were, she couldn’t give a definitive answer.

For one, she was focused on the task at hand: winning another NCAA title with her teammates—and With March Madness almost upon us, that’s where her focus still lies.

But choosing whether to take her fifth year (her COVID year) at Stanford next season or declare for the WNBA draft was a big decision. She needed to weigh her options and required time to think it through. Well, now she’s taken the time and come to a decision. Her future lies in the WNBA, and she’s ready to embrace that destiny.

On March 13, Brink took to her Instagram account to announce her decision to forgo her fifth season and enter the draft this spring. Brink took the chance to reflect on her experience at Stanford, too, and the village that brought her to this point in her basketball career.

“My four years at Stanford have been nothing short of life changing,” she began her message. “I cannot begin to express my love for everyone I’ve met and everything I’ve learned in Palo Alto.”

She proceeded to thank her coaches, the staff and her teammates and friends at Stanford for their support over the years. “I am beyond lucky to be surrounded by so many special people,” she remarked.

But, at the end of the day, it is her parents who brought her to this point. Both college basketball players themselves, they have supported and guided her through her career thus far, and no doubt will continue to do so. “You are who I do it for every single day,” she said of her mom and dad.

That being said, she’s accepting the call-up, and projected as the No. 2 pick in the 2024 draft, Brink’s future is bright.

But, announcement and all, her time in Palo Alto, Calif., isn’t quite done yet, and Brink knows it. “We still have unfinished business and so much to accomplish in my final season at Stanford,” she noted.
