Beach Volleyball wins home debut

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Beach Volleyball celebrated a historic day on Wednesday, hosting its first ever matches at the Wright-Whitaker Sports Complex and picking up a win during the home debut.

The Longhorns defeated Houston Christian, 3-2, in the program’s first home match. The pairs of Katie Hashman/Emma Grace Robinson, Ava Patton/Devin Kahahawai and Kelly McCloskey/Macey Butler led Texas to the win.

On court No. 4 McCloskey/Butler won for their fourth time this season before Patton/Kahahawai gave the Longhorns a 2-0 lead with a narrow three-set win. At the No. 1 spot, Hashman/Robertson clinched the dual match win.

In the second match of the day Texas was defeated by No. 14 Washington, 4-1. Hannah Ogden and Presley Wright picked up a win at the No. 4 flight.

Next up for the Longhorns is a trip to Corpus Christi next weekend to play in the Islander Classic against UT Martin, Stephen F. Austin, UTEP and A&M-Corpus Christi March 29-30.
