After David Benavidez publicly asked Turki Al-Sheikh, president of the Saudi Arabian General Entertainment Authority, to help him setup a fight against Saul Alvarez, it is reported that the advisor to the Royal Court and owner of Almeria in Spain would be interested in helping him out.

However, it won’t be against Saul.

Canelo sets a price for a potential fight with Benavidez: “I will fight tomorrow”

The American of Ecuadorian and Mexican descent made it clear that he doesn’t need the money, and that he would donate his earnings from the fight to a charity should he lose.

According to the British press, Benavidez may very well be given a fight in Saudi Arabia, though not in the way he had been hoping.

Benavidez’s request

“@turkialalshik let’s bring the biggest and most exciting fight to Saudi Arabia,” Benavidez posted on his Instagram account.

“This will be the biggest Mexican vs Mexican American fight in the history of boxing and what better place to do it than The Kingdom, for the entire world to see. This fight is for pride and glory. I fight for greatness not money.

“Your Excellency if I do not beat Canelo, I will donate my entire purse to any kids charity of your liking. When I do beat Canelo, I will be donating a huge amount of that purse to benefit children hunger across the world.

“I’m a champion of the people and will continue to fight the best! I stand by my words!

According to talkSPORT.com, Alalshikh plans on having Benavidez fight against the winner of the Dmitry Bivol vs Artur Beterbiev fight next June, with another fight in December against the Mexican American.

This is helped by the fact that Benavidez recently confirmed that he will move up to light heavyweight for his next fight, so he could stay in that weight class to try and become champion, as Canelo has the super middleweight belts.
