Sebastian Vettel has made it clear he’s reluctant to talk too much about the Christian Horner saga.

And the German has also sent a message to Lewis Hamilton, with the 36-year-old backing the Briton to shine at Ferrari.

Horner continues to work at Red Bull, having recently been cleared of inappropriate behaviour.

Though his accuser wants that decision overturned, Horner has always maintained his innocence and continues to deny any wrongdoing.

Vettel knows all about working with Horner, with the pair previously helping Red Bull dominate between 2010 and 2013.

The German won four titles on the trot during that time before Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes came roaring back.

And Vettel was coy when asked about Horner by Sky Germany, with the former F1 star admitting it’s ‘difficult’ for him to express his opinion.

“There is of course a lot of unrest at the moment,” he admitted.

“But I think from a sporting perspective there is currently no reason for him to think about anything else.

“I know the team, Christian [Horner] and Helmut Marko very well from my time, but it is very difficult for me to have an opinion because you don’t know what did and what did not happen.”

Vettel did, however, admit that more transparency is needed.

Red Bull have been criticised for keeping details of their investigation into Horner under wraps.

However, they could become public if the accuser’s appeal fails.

Vettel added: “I think you would like a bit more transparency in that respect, but I hope that time will clear it all up.”

Another big talking point in F1 these days is Hamilton.

The Briton is one of the best drivers in the sport’s entire history, having won seven titles over the course of his career.

Yet Hamilton has endured a rough start to the current campaign, with Mercedes clearly failing to scale the same heights of old.

The 39-year-old will be departing for Ferrari at the end of the campaign, with that move announced back in February.

But Vettel is backing Hamilton to rediscover his mojo once he leaves Mercedes behind.
