Just in: Badgers land top DL target from transfer portal

The Wisconsin Badgers have secured a commitment from Albany transfer defensive lineman Elijah Hills, he announced on Tuesday.

Hills, a rising senior, will have one year of eligibility remaining after spending the last three seasons with the Great Danes.

As a junior in 2023, Hills recorded 31 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble, while playing in 15 games this season.

The Badgers have been searching for help along the defensive line all offseason, but have yet to land one of their targets until now.

Hills was high on the Badgers’ board at defensive line and Wisconsin ultimately got it done, bringing in additional depth after losing both Rodas Johnson and Darian Varner to the transfer portal.

Standing at 6’2, 281 pounds, Hills has played at defensive tackle at Albany, but could slot in the rotation at defensive end in Madison, while having the versatility to move inside.

The Badgers are still on the hunt for additional pieces along the defensive line, but they made their first addition at the position in this cycle with Hills committing to the program.
